When we think about seasonal changes, we rarely think about how these changes effect our skin...
The fact of the matter is, though, that skin, the largest organ in the human body, is completely exposed 100% of the time. This leaves the organ susceptible to changes as dictates by the weather, humidity, temperature, and other factors that change throughout the seasons.
As fall approaches, it's important to examine your skincare regimen to make some subtle changes that will help your skin adapt to the changing climate.
The first step to take is to change your toner. Typically, during the fall, we recommend a toner that increases moisture retention like the Dr. Hauschka Toner. This toner helps rejuvinate the skin and helps combat some of the moisture-wicking qualities of fall like blasting heaters and lower humidity.
Next, switching to a better moisturizer will also help your skin combat some of the fall's harsh elements (like the wind). A food moisturizer will not leave your skin feeling heavy, but will help it retain moisture throughout the day. We love the Melissa Day Cream by Dr. Hauschka because it's for all different types of skin.
Lastly, keep an eye on your exfoliation. Many people can exfoliate as much as a few times a week, but as the climate becomes dryer into the fall, it's important to really listen to your skin and when it needs a good exfoliation. Decreasing exfoliation a minor amount as we enter fall is not a bad idea if you're looking to waltz into summer with stellar skin.
