Winter Skin Tips

February 14, 2018

So you're here wondering why your skin has forsaken you this winter...

We get it! It's a thing. It's not just you.

See, what happens in Winter is, because of the rapid change in temperature, your skin goes through quite a few changes that happen pretty immediately. Especially on cold days, you can expect to feel some dryness and irritation on your skin. In order to help you out with that, we have a few pointers that will help you maintain that healthy balance even through the winter months.

1.) Use a humidifier at home.

Especially if you're somebody who cranks the heat, the lack of moisture in your air at home can leave your skin extra dry in the morning. If you're like me and like hot showers on top of it, there's another thing working against your skin when it comes to moisture. Invest in a humidifier and you can help your skin restore it's moisture while you're home.

2.) Use a gentle cleanser.

In the winter months, it's important to use a cleanser in order to keep your pores free and clear of the dry, dead skin cells. We, of course, recommend the Soothing Cleansing Milk by Dr. Hauschka. This cleanser provides both solutions: Clearing your pores and hydrating with a mild mixture safe for the most sensitive skin.

3.) Exfoliate less.

I know this seems counter-intuitive, but this may be the best recommendation on this list. Our instinct is to exfoliate more in the winter because of the dryness, but exfoliation relies on the skin's natural barrier to be a healthy procedure. In a state of dryness, exfoliation can harm and irritate your skin more.

We hope these tips helped! Make sure to visit our page to book a moisturizing, medical facial to help with all that dryness!
