What are the Top Three Reasons to Use Facial Toner?

January 5, 2018

When people ask me what they're missing from their skincare regimen, my most frequent answer is: Toner. Adding a facial toner is the easiest thing you can do to decrease acne and even your

complexion (hence the name). At Smoothe, we love toners, but know that not all of them are created equal. We'll shamelessly plug Dr. Hauschka's Facial Toner for great results without harsh chemicals.

We use Dr. Hauschka's brand because these products are 100% natural and cruelty free, something you should be concerned about when it comes to skincare products. We also love Dr. Hauschka's Clarifying Toner (Emphasis on the "Clarifying"); it's got a bit more of a kick and does great work of minimizing pores.

This brings us to our punchline...

There are MANY reasons why you should use toners, but here are the top three:

1.) It shrinks your pores.

Toner removes oils from your pores causing them to appear smaller. Smaller pores means a smoother complexion and less makeup.

2.) It helps your skin maintain a healthy pH level.

Our skin is naturally acidic, so it's important that we help it maintain that. With alkaline soaps, our skin has to bounce back to return to it's normal pH. By using a toner instead of a basic soap, you will help your skin stay in a healthy pH range.

3.) Encourages stronger skin.

In shrinking pores, toners decrease the number of impurities and environmental contaminants that enter our skin. These factors largely contribute to acne, so this is arguably the greatest side effect to using toners.
