How can skin be Dry AND Oily?

November 8, 2017

Ok, if we wanted to get down to semantics, no. But if we wanted to be frank, this can absolutely happen. Your skin can be dehydrate and oily at the same time, but this is merely just the feeling of your skin being tight. What's the culprit? Most of the time, it's the products that you are using. We see this problem typically with clients who don't use natural skincare products.

Synthetic soaps, in an attempt to cut the oil away from the face, also take all of the deep-set water moisture with them leaving the skin dehydrated. Because your skin is dehydrated, it will begin to produce oil.

Generally, what happens is that this creates a viscous cycle of our clients trying to wash away the new oil that their skin is producing, creating an even greater imbalance and more irritation. So, how does one escape this viscous cycle? By switching to natural products. Our go-to, as skin professionals, is Dr. Hauschka. Dr. Hauschka's products are natural ingredients without all the harsh, unnatural chemicals in a lot of store-bought cleansers.

These natural products will do less of the harmful cleaning and more of the restorative cleansing that your skin needs. By switching to natural products, you encourage your skin to maintain the healthy balance that it naturally has. Check out our online store to grab some products for yourself! We recommend the Hydrating Cream Mask and Clarifying Toner!
